5 Things To Be A Cute Mom In Winter
Every winter my number goal is to stay warm! Living in the bold north means that winter comes early and it gets cold fast. Staying protected from the harsh elements of the season doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice the style you’ve been curating all year long. What if I told you there are ways to be cute but also avoid getting frostbite?
Living in Minnesota for almost 20 years, and after spending a lot time around cute moms, I’ve got your short list on what you should have on hand this winter to stay styled!
Winter Hat With A Pom
I bought this exact hat from Target this winter, from day one I instantly felt more styled in my winter gear. Previously I had been wearing over-worn knit beanies that desperately needed to be replaced. These sad hats had no details, no personality, no color, and were all over bland. You can wear this with any winter coat and look great!
2. Teddy Bear Fleece
This heavily textured fleece became popular last fall and grew in its intensity this winter. This casual piece is trend driven and adds a big element of style to any relaxed daily look! I haven’t gotten my hands on one yet, but I’ve got my eye on a few including this pullover style from Old Navy! You can also find teddy bear fleece in a cute vest or jacket style.
3. Buffalo Plaid
Think Paul Bunyan, but modern! Buffalo check plaid is nothing new. I can guarantee that in some vintage photo of your family in the winter of 1970 something, someone is wearing this pattern somewhere. However, this classic winter look has gone through some serious updates. Its traditional color scheme is red and black, but currently my favorite buffalo check is black and white [chic and modern]. Also, it’s not just for the flannel anymore. Jackets, sweaters, bags, and even pants can be found in this on-trend pattern! If you want an effortless way to wear it, this tunic from Gap is perfect!
4. Textured Sweaters
I was very specific to categorize this piece by saying textured, NOT chunky. Sweaters can be an intimidating style, feeling bulking and oversized most of the time. There is way to get that cozy winter look with style and avoid having all that extra fabric. Sweaters with texture will deliver that some trendy look, and if you can find a cute detail like the tie on the back of this one from the Loft. Well, bonus!
5. The Sorel Joan of Arctic Wedge Bootie
I’m normally not so specific in calling out one brand’s piece to be on a seasonal trends list. I’ve gotta tell you though, I have never seen a specific shoe on so many women aside from the Hunter wellie boot or Tory Burch flat. This Sorel wedge bootie is haunting me in my dreams I see it so much! It is an investment piece and it will not only deliver trend and style, but it will perform for you too. It’s a much cuter way to keep your feet warm and dry on a daily basis. I love it with jeans, dresses, and skirts. It’s a winner all around, feel free to send me a pair for Christmas [size 11 please…][in black…]
