Biggest Mistakes Made When Dressing Your Body Shape
If you are trying to dress in a way that is covering and camouflaging your body, you’re doing it wrong.
Anytime you dress to cover or camouflage your body shape, you end up feeling frumpy and dumpy. When you dress to compliment your body shape, you will feel comfortable and confident. And that’s what we aim to do here at Fashion Fix. Our motto is; change your clothes, NOT your body. But how do you know what clothes to change into, how do you know what your body shape is?

Great! Now that you know your body shape, here are the biggest mistakes I see when women dress their shape.
Apple (aka; round, diamond)
Stop wearing oversized clothes! Apple shapes carry all their curve through the mid section, and there is sometimes a concerted effort to cover or camouflage that section with oversized tops and layers. This leads to a frumpy and dumpy look. Instead look for tops that drape the body or have a swing fit, which will deliver a more complimentary and balanced look.
Straight (aka; rectangle)
Because there is no defined curve on a straight shape tops can sometimes deliver a ‘tubular’ look in their fit. Straight shapes can often wear any length top, but what you want to watch out for is how loose or tight it fits based on its length. If a top is looser it should fit longer, if it’s tighter or more fitted it should fit no longer than the top of your hips. Getting the cut and length right will deliver a more balanced and complimentary look!
Top Curvy (aka; inverted triangle)
When dressing a top curvy body shape don’t just look for necklines that open down, like a vneck or scoop neck. Look for necklines that open wide, like a boat or ballet. Your shape is defined by the horizontal lines on your body. Shoulder, midsection, hips. Looking for open horizontal cuts on necklines will compliment the broad shoulder on a top curvy.
Bottom Curvy (aka; pear)
Stop trying to cover your hips. The only time a bottom curvy shape should be wearing something that is long enough to cover their hips, they should be wearing a dress. Trying to find tops long enough to cover your hips will only result in a frumpy look. Why? Because you end up buying something that is big enough to cover your hips, and then it’s too big through the midsection and shoulders. It’s a mismatched fit. Tops should fit no longer that the top of your hips for the most balanced look!
